Gateways to Chugach State Park

There are several points to get into Chugach State Park. Here are some popular and easy-to-reach access areas. A $5 daily fee or a $40 annual pass is needed to park at the trail heads:
GLEN ALPS TRAIL HEAD: Good hikes include Flattop Mountain, Powerline Pass and Little O'Malley Peak. To reach the trail head, exit at O'Malley Road from the Seward Highway and head toward the mountains. Follow the signs for Chugach State Park, turning right on Hillside Drive to Upper Huffman Road.
PROSPECT HEIGHTS TRAIL HEAD: Good hikes include Wolverine Peak and Near Point. To reach the trail head, exit at O'Malley Road from the Seward Highway and head toward the mountains. Follow signs for Chugach State Park, turning left on Hillside Drive to Upper O'Malley Road and Prospect Drive.
MCHUGH CREEK TRAIL HEAD: Good hikes include Turnagain Arm Trail, Table Rock and Rabbit and McHugh lakes. To reach the trail head, go south on the Seward Highway to Mile 111.
EKLUTNA TRAIL HEAD: Good hikes include Eklutna Lakeside Trail, Twin Peaks Trail and Bold Ridge Trail. To reach the trail head, head north on the Glenn Highway to Eklutna Road exit. Head east about 10 miles.
EAGLE RIVER NATURE CENTER: Good hikes include Crow Pass Trail or Iditarod Trail, Albert Loop Trail and the Dew Mound Trail. To reach the trail head, head north on the Glenn Highway to the Eagle River exit. Head east on Eagle River Road. Extra $5 to park.
