Salmon are most popular fish

Salmon are the most popular fish in the waters around Juneau.

King salmon run in May and June, pinks from mid-July through August, silvers from August through mid-September.

The city's fishing blowout, the Golden North Salmon Derby, occurs in mid-August each year. In 2004, it's Aug. 20-22.
