The University of Alaska has about 27,000 full-time and part-time students.

UA is based in Fairbanks. The other main campuses are in Anchorage and Juneau.

In addition, several private liberal arts and business colleges educate Alaskans.

The state's children are educated in districts overseen by local school boards and by the state Department of Education and Early Development, which is based in Juneau.
