Health inspections of ships
Cruise liners in Alaska usually get one inspection each summer
Alaska.com
Potential passengers have raised questions about the health conditions aboard cruise liners amid reports of viral infections. It may be reassuring to read reports about health inspections, including those of ships sailing in Alaska's waters.
The National Center for Environmental Health maintains a database of inspections.
The searchable database contains vessel sanitation inspection reports for the whole year. For ships working Alaska waters, look for inspection dates between April and September. Many of the ships sail in other areas during the winter; those inspections are available too.
The NCEH report states the vessel's name, the number of passengers and crew, the ship's owner, the port where the inspection was made and the inspection date. It also lists the inspection score and summarizes the violations.
