Southeast Alaska has three accessible viewing locations for viewing brown and black bears.
- Anan Creek on the roadless mainland southeast of Wrangell.
- Pack Creek on Admiralty Island west of Juneau.
- Fish Creek near Hyder, northeast of Ketchikan on the Portland Canal.
Getting there
Fish Creek is the only site accessible by road, but it's still somewhat off the beaten path. Hyder is in extreme southeastern Alaska and is reachable by road only through Stewart, British Columbia.
Fish Creek is freely accessible.
Visitors to Pack Creek and Anan Creek will need permits in addition to transportation by air or water taxi.
